Space Overview

The space is split over two floors, a downstairs 'dirty working area' for general fabrication work and an upstairs 'clean area' for coding, sewing and textiles. Within those 2 floors are several rooms, each dedicated to a particular type, or several related types, of making.

Ditial Fabrication (Digifab)

This is where you’ll find the machines which bring digital designs into the real world. We have 2 Bambu Lab 3D printers (X1C & A1 mini), including multicolour capability, as well as our enormous CO2 Omtech laser cutter, boasting a 900x1300mm cutting bed and 130W of laser power.

Electronics

The workbench is always set up with the key equipment needed in almost every electronics project: soldering irons, power supplies, multimeters and an oscilloscope.

There is also a large assortment of components in case you need a specific resistor, capacitor or switch while you’re at the space.

Woodworking

This is the largest room because this is where the largest tools are found. We have all the standard kit that is needed for almost any woodworking project, whether you’re making pens and jewellery boxes, or dining tables and wardrobes.

We have many tools from across the spectrum: hand tools, handheld power tools, stationary machine tools and a small CNC router.

Metalworking

If the imprecision of wood is too much for you, then the metalworking room might be more your speed. Here you’ll find machine tools for turning and milling metal, including a CNC mill, as well as hand tools for deburring and finessing fits.

Sewing & Textiles

We've dedicated our upstairs front room to our memberships craftier interests. We have several sewing machines, overlockers, a knitting machine and general textiles tools, plus offcuts and donated fabrics.

For more adventurous makers, there are also leatherworking tools, a spinning wheel and a small loom, so you really could make a project “from scratch”.

Office Area

Our main upstairs room has desks with Cat5 ethernet ports and power, plus a storage cupboard filled with keyboards, mice, power leads and USB cables, just in case you get caught short.

This is where members work on more civilised projects without the indignity of dust, noise and blades.

Kitchen

Planning on spending the whole day at the space? We have you sorted! There is a small kitchenette so that you can heat up something for lunch, brew a coffee and grab a snack from our tuck shop.

There is also a loo, so you don’t need to worry about grabbing a second can of fizz.
