We have always said that we are no good at advertising the fact that we exist, and due to that we have always been growing very slowly. A large number of our members only came to find out about us because an existing member told them about us. This kind of word of mouth advertising is great, so we want to incentivise members to do more of it. That’s why we have created a referral bonus for members who tell others about us.
How it Works
When a new member signs up, we will ask them how they found out about us. If they give the name of an existing member, that existing member will be given a £10 credit voucher to spend at the hackspace.
We will sign off your card to validate it
These vouchers can be used to pay for machine time (eg. 10 hours of 3D printing), materials (eg. a few blocks of aluminium for the CNC milling machine) or items from the tuck shop. This can be done over multiple purchases or all at once.
Tick off each pound as you spend them
Once the voucher has been spent, please drop it off in any cash box or hand it to a director, so that we know that it has been spent.
We hope that this scheme will reward those who are already telling people about the hackspace, and will encourage everyone to talk about us to friends, relatives, strangers on the bus, anyone who will listen, really.
